Jing is an excellent free software utility from TechSmith. Snap a picture or make a quick video of anything on your computer screen…then share it instantly as a web link to screencast.com.  Jing is free, easy to learn, and helpful!

Images can be pasted from the clipboard or made accessible as a web link. Image annotation options include arrows and highlighting. The videos include computer mouse movement and sound as recorded through your microphone or headset. The video feature is very helpful for creating a brief tutorial on the fly and making it available as a web link that you can send in an email.

Jing provides the most popular features of the popular SnagIt and Camtasia products at no cost. User account registration is required.
